Alessa Erawan is a 2020 graduate from New York University where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and sociology, with a minor in social and public policy. She is interested in the intersection of identity, public policy, and social benefits. She plans on working in the nonprofit space to use her journalistic skills and policy background to help the public understand why certain social policies benefit and disadvantage some more than others.

Paola Nagovitch is a trilingual journalist bouncing between New York, Puerto Rico, and Madrid. Izzie Ramirez is a freelance climate, culture, and activism reporter. She graduated with honors from New York University with a double major in Journalism and Global Liberal Studies (Politics, Rights, and Development) and a minor in Integrated Digital Media. Melanie Pineda
Melanie Pineda is an honors graduate with a B.A. in Journalism and Latin American Studies. She holds a strong interest in reporting on Latino/a issues, and debunking stereotypes against these communities she considers her own. In addition to working on this project, Melanie also conducted a year-long analysis on media representation of Salvadoran women both in the US and El Salvador, with a focus on abortion and women’s rights. She aspires to study immigration law to aide asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border.

Jana Cholakovska is a 2020 honors graduate from New York University with a B.A. in Journalism and Politics. She has covered local New York politics at City & State and international politics and immigration at In the Zeitgeist, where she was editor-in-chief.
